Our Commitment to Safeguarding Children and Young People

Broadbeach Cats Junior and Senior Australian Football clubs are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We strive to create a child safe and child friendly environment where every child and young person is valued, heard, protected, and empowered to thrive.

We have zero tolerance for grooming, child abuse or other forms of harm (such as violence, neglect and exploitation) and are dedicated to embedding and enacting robust processes to prevent harm and respond effectively to any allegations or safety concerns. Safeguarding Concerns

The following form is for submitting a safeguarding incident or concern related to the safety and wellbeing of a child or young person who is a member of the Broadbeach Cats.

A safeguarding concern is any concern, allegation, disclosure, observation or suspicion that relates to the safety, wellbeing or protection of a child or young person while they are involved in, or connected to, the activities of Broadbeach Cats.

A safeguarding concern may include, but is not limited to, suspected or actual harm, abuse, neglect, grooming, exploitation, intimidation, bullying, harassment, or serious misconduct involving a child or young person, whether the behaviour occurs on or off Club premises and whether it involves a Club representative, another player, or any other person.

A safeguarding concern may also arise where a child or young person feels unsafe, distressed, uncomfortable or at risk, or where there is a failure to provide a safe, inclusive or supportive environment consistent with the Club’s child safeguarding obligations.

A safeguarding concern does not require proof and may be raised based on reasonable belief, professional judgement, or information provided by a child, family member or other person.

All safeguarding concerns must be taken seriously and responded to in accordance with the Broadbeach Cats Complaints Policy and the Child Safeguarding and Wellbeing Policy.
