Been known to scare air traffic controllers at Coolangatta. Darin has taken the heat at a tender age from some big names since he arrived as a schoolboy from Devonport, Tasmania where he played 6 senior games as a 16 y.o. and played in the Tassy under 16 representative side. A talent as rare as rocking horse droppings. Was a Centre half forward who preferred to kick on the run. We are guessing he did well in his debut season as he played in the under 18 rep side, then polled 14 votes in 2008 seniors B&F plus a laconic Rising Star nominee, 8 in 2009 (injured interupted), and before another shoulder injury in 2010, had 12 votes at centre half back heading for the B&F and was selected as captain of Queensland under 21 side. His favourite memory is of kicking 5 against old state Tasmania in the under 18 championships, although according to Stewie "most Saturday nights" he repeats BOG performances.
Unfortunately the injury knocked both honours on the head. Showed great leadership when sidelined with injury, urging on players at appropriate times and providing strategic thinking to coaching staff. An apprenticed electrician, Darin is searching for tall partners to climb as practice for street lighting installation. Turned it on for the Northern Territory folks in 2010 when he took a hanger and simultaneously added a red stripe to the underside of that QANTAS jet with the indigenous paint job. He is sometimes ashamed for players when Tinka is towelling them up.
Stewie has come a long way from a Tassy teenager to a club leader. Had a great 2011. Played the full complement of 18 and ran 6th in the B&F. Stewie was Matt Angus' go-to person filling in for ruckmen, defense and up front. Probably led the side to the victory in Alice Springs with a fantastic first stanza, and therby giving all a sniff for finals action. Seriously good footballer and club citizen with a penchant for technology especially his TIVO. On the lookout again for female company.
