Nathan Lyons

Recruited from Southport after 30 games in the under 18s - which may explain his fear of sharks - and was runner-up B&F under 18s in 2006. Ball magnet with silky disposal skills and more run that the trots.  Always prominent. Polled votes in an incredible 17 of 19 games in 2008 club B&F and played in the Queensland under 21 side in that year.  Persistent leg injuries resulted in quiet 2009 and while he achieved the 50 game milestone, it was an indifferent 2010 although the outer selection panel had him in on many a Thursday night. Likes to play in the engine room and across the middle. Ran a more than creditable 800m at the Grand Prix - just over the 2 min mark.

Handy in the salt water, Lyonsy won gold in Australian surf lifesaving competition, and just to complete the all round image, is a pianist of some note and has ambitions of tinkling on his Hansburg vintage piano on his way around the world.  Liked to prey, with Sam Edwards, on female Scandivanian students at Griffith Uni. Civil Engineering graduate of high distinction, now  looking for a hard hat.

Nathan retired on mid season on 59 games but continued to answer the call when the Magoos were down on numbers. And played as if it was yesteryear. Still, his band is going places and we wish him well. And his family who were great supporters.
