The KLF fence sign is back up. Fults spent 2008 at Labrador/PBC ironically playing his "last" game of footy in Qld at Merrimac Oval in the GF for PBC. With the intention of going to stud in 2009 he hurled his boots on the pavilion roof where they stayed until Kevin retrieved them. Fults approached the club for another season as his way of paying tribute to Harry Kennan. Took a lot of character and interior lining to come back. Knocked up 15 games in 2009 running equal 6th in B&F and taking out the goal kicking award yet again. In so doing became only the third man in 105 year history of elite football in Qld to kick 600 goals (all except 13 for Broadie).
Yet again he retired but felt the urge and put in a dozen games in 2010 playing some of his best footy yet. And as an aside sponsored the clubs training jumpers. You could say he was heavily committed. Unfortunately his string of goal kicking awards was broken when he ran second to Tinka. He finished with 184 games making him the only player whose number of games is equal to or greater than his height. He has 669 goals and is the second highest goalkicker in the history of QAFL. Outstanding stuff. Takes a mark that belies his height, fights well on the deck and has a deadly foot from 45 plus on the angle. A settled family man with Brooke and 2 precious daughters, Bocker takes great delight in watching them grow while fearing it will all happen too quickly.
Not content to rest on laurels such as kicking 9 against Morningside to bring up the ton in 1996, or his B&F in that year, Bocker was back for 2011. Generally used at full forward, but also a roaming role and on a couple of occasions at FB where he polled votes as an astute defender. But did well up front in combination with the Eagle, Knuckles Emery, Tinka and few more. We saw more of the twirled finger in the air running to the centre after a shot at goal. Particularly at the Merrimacattery where he knows each blade of grass intimately.
Notched NEAFL/QAFL 200 games (shame about the 12 weeks served in suspension) and get close to 710 goals by our count if one includes his Labrador and permit game with PBC (12 goals one game)
As Jack Dyer once said: "The only problem with Kevin Bartlett is he is getting older." air to say he left the club in unfortunate circumstances and we hear he will line up for Surfers in 2012. Good luck Fults, you provided many a memory for Broady supporters throughout your career.
