Joe 'Bugs' Barrile
Made of real Broadbeach stuff is Bugs. His grandfather was the first team manager of the reserves in 1973. We are informed that he used to walk from his home in Southport to wherever the game was, and then walk home. Made of different stuff these days. Joey is case in point, always complaining about injuries. On Foxy's advice he went to Belinda, bitching that he hurt like hell all over. Bel asks what the problem is so Blonde Bugs touched his leg and screams in pain, then touched his ribs and could barely stop from crying. Bel says rack off, you're OK except for a broken finger.
Despite his "injuries, Bugs has racked up 200 games in the juniors winning one B&F along the way while captaining the under 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s and turning it on in Grand Finals.. A 'wow' factor player, used in an on-ball role, Joey has pace, courage and skill to match it with the best, if he could keep upright for a while. A genuine bloke he treasures his friends and family and favours dining with Dad, Mum and Caroline - unless Caroline is irate. He labours away as a chippy contemplating spending time with the girl and dreaming of being rich, travelling the world and extending the family participation at Broady to a fourth generation.
